May 16th saw the North Aberdeenshire schools gather together at Fraserburgh to share their experiences of trialling the draft science outcomes. This was planned as a low key, informal day to allow science staff to listen to and question each other about what they have been doing, why, how it had gone, etc, etc. For me this was an excellent day. In Secondary and Primary schools across the North East of Scotland there is a wide range of trialling activity taking place. The variety of approaches taken to trialling and the experiences gained put North East schools in a stronger than average position to both influence the process of implementing CfE and also to be able to interpret the ‘ask’ that is being made of schools as curriculum change unfolds.
